Everyone talks about work-life balance like it is the holy grail of modern living. But here is the truth: balance is the wrong goal.
Balance implies equal distribution – a little work here, a little family there, a little rest somewhere else. But life does not work that way. There are seasons when work demands more. Seasons when family needs you fully present. Seasons when rest is not optional but essential.
What you need is not balance. You need priorities. You need to know what matters most and have the courage to say no to what matters less – even when what matters less is still good.
Jesus was not balanced. He withdrew from crowds when He needed to pray. He stayed up all night before choosing the disciples. He focused intensely, then rested completely. He lived by priority, not by proportion.
Stop chasing balance. Start asking: what does faithfulness look like in this season?
